SWC Member School Administrators
Honored by CAS

Two South-West Conference school administrators were honored at the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) annual celebration of educational leadership awards program held on Thursday, October 26 at the St. Clement’s Castle and Marina in Portland, Connecticut.  Dr. Lorrie Rodrigue, former principal of Newtown High School and current interim Superintendent of Schools in Newtown was recognized as the 2017 High School Principal of the Year and Christopher Koch of Bunnell High School was honored as the 2017 High School Assistant Principal of the Year.  Rodrigue and Koch were presented their awards by CAS Awards and Recognition Committee Chairwoman Donna Hayward (right in photo) and CAS/CIAC Executive Director Karissa Niehoff (left in photo).  The CAS awards program was established to bring recognition to exemplary school principals and assistant principals and to increase public awareness of the critical role that school administrators play in the education of children, according to the association.

The South West Conference is composed of 14 high schools located in the southwestern part of Connecticut.  SWC member schools belong to the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) and operate under the umbrella of the CIAC which governs high school athletics in Connecticut. SWC member schools also operate under the jurisdiction of the National Federation of High Schools which establishes the rules for most CIAC sanctioned sports.
